THE SAMPLER
COLLECTION 1 - Cross Stitch
Samplers are my favorite form of Cross Stitch Design.
I enjoy the excitement of incorporating decorative stitches and exploring the effects of
overdyed threads. The stylized elegance of the format offers a fascinating and intriguing
design challenge.
"Back Home Again" Sampler
My grandmother, Mary Eliza Bond Boord, was a published poet. This design features a quote
from one of her poems. The house is a simplified version of our house, although Jeffrey
likes to point out that its chimneys are in better shape than the real ones!
It is on my favorite Wichelt Silk and Linen (32 count) in Twilight Blue over 2 and uses 10
colors of DMC Floss.
Stitch size is 99w x 203h

"May Our Meals Be Seasoned"
Sampler
This lovely sampler was inspired by a vintage piece we acquired
on an Antiquing expedition. I stitched the
model over the July Fourth Weekend that year, while watching the FBI Files Marathon on the History
Channel. This design could probably be stitched by an intermediate stitcher in about 20
hours. It is on Wichelt Belfast Linen (32 count) in Cream over 2 and uses 6 colors of DMC
Floss.
Stitch size is 92w x 192h

"Open Your Hearts"
Sampler
This Wedding/Anniversary Sampler was inspired by my parents who lived this every
day of their lives. This unique design can easily be personalized with charms or by
substituting interlocking Wedding Rings for the Hearts.
It can be stitched by a
Intermediate stitcher in about 20 hours. The fabric is the Silk and Linen, 32 count by Wichelt (one of my favorite fabrics) in Natural and is stitched over 2. Four colors of DMC
Floss are used.
Stitch size is 97w x 176h.
