April Pin/Ornament of the Month
Instructions: This page includes
Instructions and Charts for everything except the Smyrna Cross Border.
Note: The Scotch Stitches are arranged in a different orientation than those in the March
Design.
To get to the Smyrna Cross Border, click HERE.
MATERIALS:
Clear (translucent) Plastic Canvas 14mesh
White or ecru may be substituted.
Stretcher Bars are recommended. Attach Plastic Canvas with staples or tacks.
Threads: General Suggestions
Outer Smyrna Cross Border - Sparkling Threads such as Tiara, Metallic Ribbon Floss,
Fyre Werks.
Scotch Stitch Area - Matte, textured Thread such as Silk and Ivory or Very Velvet,
Medium Sheen such as Pearl Cotton, Sparkle such as Fyre Werks, or consider a Variegated
Thread.
Consider using different threads for the different rows of Scotch Stitch.
5 Star Center Motif - Tiara, Flair, Fyre Werks or consider a Variegated Thread.
Beads: Because this design did not lend itself to the application of
beads, I have included instructions for Beaded Stitch Counters, for those
of us who cannot go a month without Beads. *VBG*
Click HERE to get to the Beaded
Stitch Counters.
Color Combinations: General Suggestions
Using 1 Color - Use a Sparkle for the Smyrna Border and 5 Star Center
Motif and a Variegated Thread featuring the chosen color for the Scotch Stitch
areas.
Using 2 Colors -
Variation 1: Use a Sparkle in Color 1 for the Smyrna Border and 5 Star
Center Motif and a Variegated Thread featuring Color 2 for the Scotch Stitch.
Variation 2: Use a Sparkle in Color 1 for the Smyrna Border and 5 Star
